About Me

I am a local artist in Vallejo, California. I work in a multitude of mediums, both fine arts and crafts. I was born and raised in Marin County, attended Terra Linda High in San Rafael. I attended Fresno State University where I obtained my BA in Art in 1975. I moved to Vallejo in 1978 and began a career in the USDA Forest Service, in 1979, where I was employed for 31 years. I retired at the end of 2010. During my career with the Forest Service, I was able to apply my artistic background to many aspects of my positions there.
I always knew that art, drawing, creating, and observing the world around me were my first loves. When asked what I wanted to do when I grew up, I always answered, “I want to be an artist!” I remember two of my first drawings in Kindergarten, a lion and a giraffe (which I also wanted to be when I grew up!) Now, I am still growing up and I’m still discovering and rediscovering the directions, styles, creative processes, and wonders that I want my art to say.
Upon retirement I began to reignite my interests in the outdoors and the influence which nature seeps into my depictions of the surrounding world. Although I work in many mediums, my special interests are in illustration, soft sculpture, anything that is hand made and repurposed creations.
Other interests:
Nature Journaling. Nature Journaling serves us in many aspects, as does journaling itself. It helps us observe and learn about the world around us as we record it as we see it.
Fibre Arts: Needle and Wet Felting. Hand-spun fibres. Weaving, Sewing and Crochet
Hiking: Favorite terrain, lush forested areas
Biking: easy, scenic, relaxing trails
